Amit?bha, also Amida or Amit?yus, is a celestia buddha described in the scriptures of Mah?y?na Buddhism. Amit?bha is the principal buddha in Pure Land Buddhism, a branch of East Asian Buddhism. In Vajrayana Buddhism, Amit?bha is known for his longevity attribute. Amit?bha means "Infinite Light" so Amit?bha is also called "The Buddha of Immeasurable Life and Light".
