Sturdy piece of kit. My hiking carry stick for the canadian woods. What it lacks in length of a good long pole, it makes up for in heavy impact capability. Mine has seen thousands of hours of use now in all weather conditions and short of the expected scratches and wear it is still in near original condition. Ball would be a bit large for smaller hands to hold and use in cane style, but the taper of the shaft allows for comfortable grips for all. The undulations in the poly construction actually aid in grip in wet conditions or when wearing heavy winter gloves/mitts
